The Washington, D.C. area may not be a hot retirement destination like the Sun Belt, but there are plenty of advantages to retiring near the nation’s capital. “Near” is a key word. The D.C. region is home to 6 million people, and only about 680,000 of them live in the District of Columbia itself.
